WHAT IS MOXIE CYCLING COMPANY

WE ARE DISRUPTERS

Moxie Cycling Company is  a contemporary women’s cycling apparel company driven to produce high quality performance products designed to fit a women’s body in motion.  It is our goal to disrupt the traditional look of a “cyclist”.  Making apparel that is not only comfortable but fits women of all different body types and riding preferences. Producing products using responsibly sourced and recycled performance based fabric.  Production is done by fair pay sewing factories in the USA.  Our company started with the Wicked Girl Mountain Bike Collection and in 2020 we purchased the Moxie Cycling Company trademark.  With this acquisition Moxie Cycling covers all types of riding styles.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to get more women to experience the joy of being outside and on their bikes.  We do this by making apparel that is not only comfortable but fits women of all shapes, sizes and riding preferences thereby making cycling more inclusive and welcoming for women who may not have felt comfortable in traditional cycling clothes.  We represent women cyclists.  The female cyclist consumer is growing rapidly and with diversity.  More women are riding but not necessarily for the reasons men are riding.  Research has shown women are taking to cycling for the benefits of being outside, the health benefits and for fun. These women cyclists have different needs than the traditional cyclist.  Their top priorities for apparel comfort, style and performance. The increased diversity in women's cycling has increased the need for broader size ranges.  Women have been under-represented in the cycling community for years.  Not any more.

we represent women - everywomen

Our message resonates with women because we represent them.  Every and anyone who identifies as a women.  We recently developed a program called the Moxie Movement.  Women supporting women athletes.  In this program we work with NICA encouraging teenage girls to get out and ride together.  We work with the Black GIrls Do Bike to increase and encourage diversity in cycling.  And our Ambassadors spread the joy of cycling by organizing rides and events throughout the United States.

we are committed to people and the planet

We are an innovative company committed to sustainability and responsible sewing practices.  Our products are made  in small batches with care and precision.   Proudly made in the U.S.A.

HEIDI YAKOWSKI, OUR FOUNDER

President

Former competitive cyclist Heidi Yakowski has created a cycling apparel line for women. Her clothing line "Wicked Girl" cycling jerseys was started in 2016. She acquired the established apparel brand "Moxie" in 201, to offer a full line of female-focused athletic wear.

The concept for Wicked Girl, was born in the Central PA Mountains of Michaux State Forest, said Heidi Yakowski, Wicked Girl/Moxie, President and Designer.

"During our talks on that ride I found out that women are passionate about not only riding but what they wear and how it feels when they ride. And that there were very few choices for them," said Heidi.

"I knew I could create something better than the current choices. A line of apparel that was cut for women and fashion forward, while providing the performance they demanded as serious riders," said Heidi.

So, with a background in marketing and business and knowledge of production sewing, Heidi started working on creating a cycling apparel line for women. During the whole process, she received amazing support from other female riders in the region.

"They test rode prototypes, provided feedback, and encouraged me to go farther. Wicked Girl was a true collaboration by the Women Mountain Bikers of Michaux!"

The result was an apparel line that is designed for a women’s body and provides the performance function needed for long hard rides, all while making the cyclist look stylish and fashionable. Production is done at the Wicked Girl /Moxie facility in Carlisle and Heidi is currently hiring more sewers to keep up with demand. To date, Heidi has seen sales from all over the US.

An opportunity to expand the line came in 2018, when she aquired the established women's cycling apparel brand Moxie.

"I knew the company and it’s solid reputation with women riders and combining companies has been a game changer, Heidi said. "Female riders, like myself now have more choices and more options. Moxie and Wicked Girl's distinct lines offer unique, fashionable  looks, while providing a fully functional fit.  And both can be used for more outdoor activity then just riding," she said.

Ultimately, what drives Heidi is a love for cycling and the knowledge she is helping to empower other women through sports.

"Made by women who ride, for women who ride, is really what Wicked Girl/Moxie is all about. My goal is to get more women on bikes, because when women ride bikes they become healthier, stronger and more confident."
